  4. Why are we following? Running away from HELL in fear! OR running towards Jesus attracted by His wonderful love! Dr. Adrian Todd - www.gatewaychurch.org.uk

  5. Your prospects Your money Your time So what’s the cost? • Every area of your life will be affected. Sell your possessions and give to charity. Luke 12:33 Be content with your wages. Luke 9:3 the poor, share the good news, church Missions anyone? Dr. Adrian Todd - www.gatewaychurch.org.uk

Not the world’s way • Peter recognised Jesus as the Christ • But he rejected the type of Christ • humble, suffering, laying down his life • We are called to follow that type of Christ • Not just about salvation • This world is self-centred • Following Jesus is self-less Dr. Adrian Todd - www.gatewaychurch.org.uk

  7. The Narrow Way • It’s bigger on the inside! • Living within God’s safe structure allows us to thrive • Inside we can become all that He meant us to be • His own image Dr. Adrian Todd - www.gatewaychurch.org.uk

The Master • The one who is followed, the teacher, the master, Jesus • If you love me you will obey my commandments, John 14:15 • If you continue in my word then you are truly disciples of mine John 8:31 • Bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples, John 15:8 • Know your Master - read His Word Dr. Adrian Todd - www.gatewaychurch.org.uk

  10. The Disciple/Follower • We learn directly from Jesus • We also learn from our leaders • Christian leadership is NOT heirarchical • Leadership is more about influence, and less about power/control Dr. Adrian Todd - www.gatewaychurch.org.uk

My Dad’s feet The mentor is NOT the Master Mentoring is like parenting The Mentor To make disciples we first need to be disciples Be careful who you choose to follow • Discipling is about walking together in the light, 1 John 1:7 • John 8:12 we walk in light and life • Eph 5:8 walk as children of light We learn and grow together Dr. Adrian Todd - www.gatewaychurch.org.uk
