  1. Intro to Biotech Science for the new millennium

  2. What you will need • Lab notebook • This needs to be a notebook that is only for the lab. You can choose a composition notebook, or a single subject notebook. You will be turning it in to be graded so: no notes, no stuff for other classes, no doddles. • This is to keep track of the things you do in lab.

  3. You will need to read ahead. • I want to spend more time talking about application than teaching you to book. We will go over some of the information in depth, but please come prepared. • I would like to move closer to a flipped classroom for this class. • So with that in mind please bear with me.

  4. Why Biotechnology? • In the next 10 years the department of education believes the jobs in biomedical technology field will go up by 62% • By the time that you graduate college there will be jobs that don’t exist today in this field. • Biotechnology is a growing industry that combines biology, chemistry, and scientific learning.

  5. Is it hard? • Jobs in biotechnology can vary in difficulty and school requirements. • In a year or two you could go and get a job as a lab aide or lab tech. • With just two year more you can be a biotechnician. • There are jobs for every degree after that as well. • So is it hard?
