World Petroleum Council - Roadmap • Mission The World Petroleum Council acts as a catalystfor collaborative processes that set high industry standards, while maximizing youth input and communicating positive industry examples.
World Petroleum Council - Roadmap • We believe that: • Private enterprise should be a positive force in society; • Corporate Social Responsibility is a commitment to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life; • Our approach will help to improve our industry’s image and enhance its attractiveness as a rewarding career choice; The petroleum industry can be a fun and rewarding environment for today’s diverse youth
World Petroleum Council - Roadmap We believe that: ; • Today’s global challenges require new and innovative approaches; • Youth have new ideas that should be encouraged by mentors; • Young people are our industry’s greatest spokespeople; • The petroleum industry should develop more constructive relationships with other youth oriented stakeholders. Youth must be involved in crafting the future not just inheriting it

World Petroleum Council - Roadmap • Principles Concerning youth, we will: • Engage youth in the challenges faced by our industry and our world; • Nurture youth leadership; • Incorporate youth into important decision making; • Include youth representatives as our spokespeople.
World Petroleum Council - Roadmap • Principles: Concerning Corporate Social Responsibility, we will: • Take a public stance and champion sustainability and responsible behaviour; • Work with others to improve industry performance and earn an enhanced reputation; • Effectively communicate the challenges to our members and the opportunities to youth.
World Petroleum Council - Roadmap • Objectives By Fall 2006: • Establish a youth committee to coordinate youth-related initiatives: plug into EC or CPC?; • Develop a resource strategy; • Produce WPC handbook focused on youth; • Develop guidelines to assist National Committees (NC) to plan and execute regional youth events. By Spring 2007: • Develop and launch a WPC position on Corporate Social Responsibility; • Develop NC guidelines on media communication and participating in international youth events;
World Petroleum Council - Roadmap Objectives By June 2008: • Establish partnerships with SPE, AAPG, AIESEC, reputable Universities, and other youth focused networks and incorporate them into the 19th World Congress; • Hold an oil and gas careers fair as part of the 19th World Congress Exhibition. By 2011: • Hold a World Congress showcasing youth (i.e. youth presenters/content).
