Energy-efficiency Policies (1) • “Low-carbon, green growth” • Brand-new Korean government’s fundamental policy • Enhancement of the economic growth potential based on low carbon emission and green industrialization • Also emphasis on the balance between environment and growth • MLTM (Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime affairs) • “Architectural design standards for energy saving” became effective from Nov. 18, 2008. • Regulation No: 2008-652 • KNHC (Korean National Housing Corporation) • Release of new functional specification of wall outlets in Sep. 2008. • Obligation to adopt energy-saving wall outlets in new housing will be forced by KNHC from 2009
Energy-efficiency Policies (2) • Seoul Metropolitan Government • Release of newly revised ordinance on Mar.23, 2009 • “Guideline of architectural design standards for low carbon, green energy” • Obligation to use of energy saving wall outlets more than 80% will be forced • Other activities • “The 3rd C40 Large Cities Climate Summit 2009” and “C40 Seoul Climate Change EXPO” are being held in Seoul from May 18 to 21, 2009.
Remark • Korean government and companies have been and will be continuously considering energy efficiency issues seriously and developing related regulations, guidelines and technologies. • We wish to support and contribute to Energy Efficiency Ad Hoc Group or a prospective TA in IEC/TC100. • Standardization of energy savings at home Energy Savings System (ESS) for home appliances and network devices – Part 1: Architecture and requirements (NP submitted on May 9, 2009)
