  1. Codes and Conventions Of Movie Magazine Cover

  2. Montage of my Favourite Cover Pages From Film Magazines

  3. The date and price are within the gaps of the masthead, not to take the attention of the reader away too much Slogan appears to be ‘ripped’ across the top of the cover page The character is in front of the masthead – they have great significance and power Masthead in top third of the cover page The font of the title of the film is the second largest of the whole cover, with a worn and tattered feel to it The cover lines down the right third of the cover page – catching the attention of the through the bright colours Both characters making eye contact with the camera, helping to draw the reader in Barcode on the left third near the bottom, as not to take away from the important features of the cover Even more cover lines at the bottom of the left third – makes it appear like there is so much to be read about inside

  4. Character appears to be looking straight through the reader, meaning that he is focusing his attention on something else Skyline is red in order to catch the attention of the reader The masthead for this magazine has got a lot of detail running through it, in order to match the genre of the film that it is promoting The web address for the magazine is promoted Main image is slightly covering the masthead Certain part of the cover lines are highlighted with red in order to draw in the reader’s attention Anchoring text Masthead half way down the cover page The strap line gives more information into the insight about this mind confusing film that is being promoted Barcode in the bottom left corner – not taking the attention away from the rest of the poster

  5. Codes and Conventions I am likely to use • red, black and white colour scheme • masthead in the top third of my cover page • The price and website of my magazine within a gap in my masthead • The character in front of the masthead • The barcode at the very bottom of my cover • A plus (+) sign in order to introduce even more cover lines • A strap line in order to help make it reinforce the idea that I want to get across • A slogan • A puff in order to attract more reader to buy my magazine

  6. I feel that it is important to utilise the codes and conventions of other real media products in offer to create your own, as without these, my movie magazine cover page will not look realistic or as professional as I want. This is why I believe that research is so essential during this process, as I want my products to promote my film in a way that would be used in the film industry.
