Have you Ever? • Have you ever been driving comfortably in your car listening to your favorite jams, when all of a sudden one of your tire pops? • Has it ever happened and you freak out because you don’t know how to change the tire? • Well if so, here you can find helpful information on how to change a flat tire.
Turning on Your Flashers • The First step you need to do whenever this happens to turn on your emergency flashers. • That way cars around you know something is wrong.
Where you need to park • After you have turned on your flashers, pull over to the side of the road, away from traffic. Make sure you pull over to a spot that is • Flat • Not on a Hill • Nor that is soft ground
Emergency Break • Once pulled over to the side of the road, make sure you put on your Emergency break. The emergency break is good to put on so the car doesn’t roll.
Getting Supplies Next you will be getting out of the car to go and retrieve your supplies (jack and spare tire). They will either be in the trunk of the car, under the car, and in some cases under the hood of the car.
Where to put the Jack • Next you will need to place the jack under the car. Preferably under the metal frame that goes around the car.
Lifting the Car • After the jack has been put firmly under the car. Start pumping it or whatever it takes to start lifting up the car. *Note: Do not lift the car completely off the ground yet.
Removing the nuts • Now that the car is lifted, take off the Hubcap and start unscrewing the nuts by turning them counter clockwise.
Taking off the tire • Once the nuts are lose enough, raise the jack more so the car is completely off of the ground. • Remove the nuts completely and pull off the tire. • Once the tire is off place it under the car incase the jack falls.
Placing The New Tire Now that there is no tire on the hub, place the new spare tire on the hub. Once you put it on start tightening the nuts by hand in star shape rotation so they are balanced equally.
Not Done…Just Yet • Next lower the car so it touches the ground but do not drop it all the way yet. • Finish tightening up the nuts with a wrech in the same star shape rotation.
Almost Done • Now that the replacement tire is on (the spare). Lower your vehicle all the way to the ground. • After the vehicle has been lowered don’t forget to remove your jack.
Put Supplies Back • Put your supplies (jack, wrench) back in the car compartment that they go in.
Where To Put the Flat Tire • Take the flat tire and put it in the trunk of your car so you can later go and get it fixed. • You can take the flat tire to a local tire shop or places such as Wal*Mart to get it fixed. • If the tired cannot be fixed you will have to buy a brand new tire.
End • This concludes the presentation. • I hope that this presentation was helpful for either somebody who doesn’t know how to change a tire.
