How to Apply Braille Formats • Identify what you are looking at • Base the format for each type of material identified on the most difficult one in the book • Find the Guidelines that apply • Adjust your decisions based on clarity • Use guidelines that closest fit the situation when something is not covered in the code

Pre-Formatting • Review the front matter, back matter, and text for material that should be transposed or placed in a separate volume. • Preliminary Volume • Supplementary Volume • Notes Volume • End of P pages • Pronunciation Key • Exercises or Test at the back of the book • Charts, Formulas, Symbols, Abbreviations, etc. on or inside the cover • Repeated Cast of Characters
