What is “Graduation Transitions” ? • GT is intended to prepare students for life after secondary school. • GT makes students responsible for preparing their education, career and life goals beyond high school. • GT is a requirement for graduation.
Components of GT • Personal Health - Create a personal health plan - Participate in and log at least 150 minutes weekly of moderate-vigorous physical activity outside of P.E., Dance, and Super Fit. • Community Connections - Students must demonstrate employability skills through at least 30 hours of work experience/volunteer experience. - Students will be required to document and reflect on this experience. • Career and Life - Create a plan for life after graduation via completion of a Transition Plan.
How can I complete the GT requirements? • Work done in Planning 10 (e.g. transition planning, 150 minutes physical activity log) • Authorized courses (e.g. PE 11, PE12, Super-Fit, Science, etc.) • Independent self-directed learning outside the classroom.
Where can I find out more? • PM’s website will have a link that outlines GT requirements and has downloadable forms that you can complete thus satisfying your graduation requirements. • Outside room 119 where you can find paper copies of the Graduation Transitions requirements that you can complete. • There will also be lists of students from Grades 10-12 and the requirements they have already met. This will be updated monthly.
Who do I submit Graduation Transitions requirements to? • Mr. Missana – Business Ed. prep room (between 118 and 119) • Mr. Wilkie (room 126 and Business Ed. Prep room) • www.pmlions.ca link is under Graduation Transitions in the “student” section
What happens if I don’t complete my GT requirements? • If you don’t complete your Transitions requirements in your Grade 12 year but have all other credits required for graduation-you will not receive credit for Transitions and YOU WILL NOT GRADUATE!
Where can I check my GT status? • Outside room 119 on the bulletin boards. These lists will be updated monthly. *** If your name is not on the grade lists or in the wrong grade, please see Mr. Missana or Mr. Wilkie right away.
GT due dates! • Grade 11 You must submit your 150 minutes physical activity log on May 27, 2011 • Grade 12 You must submit your 150 minutes physical activity log on May 13, 2011 You must have met all three components by May 13, 2011
