FORWARD PLANNING DOCUMENT SCHOOL: The University of Notre Dame YEAR 8 TOPIC: Personal Financial Budgeting Webquest PROGRAM OVERVIEW FOR LESSONS: 1-6 LEARNING AREA: Technology and Enterprise (ICT) 1 lesson per week for 6 weeks Program overview: It is very important for students to understand that living independently is a big step and involves a lot of new responsibilities. While some students might organise and prepare themselves very competently, others will not. This program has been devised to give students a different perspective on moving away from home. It is a strong learning tool to help them become aware of the many extrinsic factors that can influence lifestyle such as bills and expenditure, whilst also allowing them the means to use ICT as an effective research and contact tool for achieving their needs. Throughout the topic there are many links to other learning areas which will test their capacity for linking their subjects together. Links to other learning areas are included in the lesson outlines. The lessons have been designed to give students a chance to experience a number of different software programs and to use these effectively. The content will flow in an order that will benefit the process and the student. NB. The process document for each week is fully self-explanatory, after the preparation of the topic plan, very little teacher interaction will actually be required. Teacher will most likely play an assistance role.
