  2. The Concept • Selfsustainable Energy Food Own solid waste processing Own wastewater processing

  3. WASTE in Finland 522 kg/ab y x 1.400 ab = 731 ton/y

  4. WASTE RYCICLE PLASTIC, PAPER…. BIOLOGICAL WASTE

  5. BIOLOGICAL (ORGANIC) WASTE Farm Farm Cogeneration

  6. BIOLOGICAL (ORGANIC) WASTE Biogas producted by organicwaste and wastewater treatment Cogeneration + Districtheating

  7. Waste water treatment • Waste water produced: 64000 m3/a • The two caverns can be used as water treatment plant • Sedimentation clarificatrion • Nitrification-denitrification process • Anaerobic treatment of sludge • Methane used in electricity and heat generation

  8. Cogeneration system

  9. Reducingenergyconsumption • Keycards • Wall panels • Common wood fired saunas • Efficient lighting • Common freezer areas • Common laundry/dryingrooms • Up to 45 % reduction

  10. Energy production • WindSide turbines on the roofs and by the shoreline • PV panels and windows • Thermoelectricity • Methane combustion • Floortiles • Smartgrid

  11. Waste water heatrecovering. • Any hot water that goes down the drain carries away energy with it. That's typically 80–90% of the energy used to heat water in a home. Waste water heat recovery systems capture this energy to heat cold water entering the water heater or going to other water fixtures. • Drain-water heat exchangers can recover heat from the hot water used in showers, sinks, dishwashers, and clothes washers. They generally have the ability to store recovered heat for later use. • The waste water maintains a temperature between 10 and 20°C in the lines, whatever the season.

  12. How doesitwork ?

  13. Waste water heatrecovering system design.

  14. Hot water loop. Advantages • Hot water quickly • No waste water
