  2. ¿Qué son las olimpiadas? Los Juegos Olímpicos u Olimpiadas, son eventos deportivos multidisciplinarios en los que participan atletas de diversas partes del mundo. La organización encargada de la realización de los mismos es el Comité Olímpico Internacional.

  3. Juegos olímpicos antiguos. • Los antiguos Juegos Olímpicos (llamados así por celebrarse en la ciudad de Olimpia) fueron fiestas religiosas, culturales y deportivas celebradas en la antigua Grecia, en honor a los dioses olímpicos. En ellos participaban los atletas, que debían ser ciudadanos y hombres, y que se entrenaban durante años en los gimnasios.

  4. Juegos olímpicos modernos. • Los Juegos Olímpicos Modernos fueron establecidos en su aspecto deportivo en 1896 por Pierre de Coubertin y hasta la actualidad siguen practicándose. Aunque siempre que se habla del renacimiento de los Juegos Olímpicos, el hecho se le atribuye a Francia y a Pierre de Coubertin que es llamado el padre de los Juegos Olímpicos Modernos.

  5. Signo Olímpico. • El símbolo olímpico consiste en cinco anillos que representan los cinco continentes del mundo: África, América, Asia, Europa y Oceanía. Están entrelazados para simbolizar la amistad deportiva de todos los pueblos.

  7. Próximos juegos olímpicos • Los próximos juegos olímpicos serán llevados acabo en Londres 2012 ya que estos juegos se celebran cada 4 años.
