Who We Are • Marcellus ShaleNET is a coalition between: • Westmoreland County Community College (lead agency) • Pennsylvania College of Technology • West Virginia Northern Community College • Eastern Gateway Community College in Ohio • Broome Community College in New York • PA Independent Oil & Gas Association • Allegheny Conference
Our Mission • To design a comprehensive recruitment, training, placement, and retention program for high priority occupations in the natural gas drilling and production industry. • To bring workforce investment boards, their One-Stops, industry, and training providers together to build a Marcellus-wide industry-recognized uniform training and certification program aggregating and augmenting existing curricula and adopting best practices as identified.
Our Mission • This effort is funded by a three-year, $4.9 million grant from the United States Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. • WCCC serves as the Western Hub • PCT serves as the Eastern Hub
ShaleNET Objectives To Create: • A recruitment, job placement, training and retention program for high-priority occupations in the natural gas industry. • Tools that present a realistic picture of the work. • Industry-recognized uniform training and certification programs. • Screening and assessment tools. • A comprehensive pre-employment program that includes industry orientation, basic safety training, and job readiness skills.
