SHSE History • Chapter of a National Organization - Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) which was founded in 1974 in Los Angeles, California. • This student chapter was established on the Cal Poly Pomona Campus in 1973 as a Chicano Engineering Organization. It was chartered as part of SHPE in 1977 and changed to SHSE in 1983 to include Science majors.

  8. Guest Speaker : Dr. Farran Dr. Hany J. Farran is a professor of Structural and Civil Engineering for 35 years: 25 at Cal Poly Pomona and 9 at West Virginia University. Dr. Farran has brought his experience, knowledge and passion for engineering to SHSE as a past advisor for 14 years and has inspired all his students to excel in their studies, leadership, and in life.
