  3. Review: Nouns • Noun= • Person, Place, Thing, or Idea • Common= • Non-specific • Proper= • Specific, Capitalized • Collective= • Refers to group • Compound= • Two words referring to one noun • Concrete= • Can feel or see • Abstract= • Cannot feel or see

  4. Got Nouns? • Assign groups • Give each group whiteboard, marker, eraser • Explain directions: • Listen to the directions, which will tell you the type of noun you are to identify • Correctly identify and spell the specified noun in each of the given sentences. • Hold up your sign. The first team to get it correct gets a point.

  5. Find the Common Noun in each sentence • The big dog ran away fast.             • The two girls liked to swing high.        • My cat is big and fluffy and white.       • Michael, be safe and do not play with matches.       • The class is going to work hard today.        • Please go get the paper for me.            • Look at Mr. Marks’ fireworks!       • A newborn baby cries a lot.       • My brother is older than I am.       • My teacher said that we are working hard.    

  6. Find the Proper Noun in each sentence. • My favorite cereal to eat is Cheerios.    • I have a black cat and his name is Midnight.     • My mother went to Safeway to buy milk.     • We live in Birmingham.     • Did you cheer for Ruben to win?     • I can't wait until Christmas is here!    • I like to watch Clifford on television.    • Are you going to Florida for vacation?     • I like the month of July the best.    • Will you get me a Coke from the machine?   

  7.   8. SSR • Make sure you are seatedand reading when the bell rings and continue to do so for the entire 20 minutes. • Remember this time is worth 10% of your grade!

  9. List 1 Vocabulary • Identify the correct definition for the remaining words on list 1 (#14-25). • Test on Friday! • Spelling • Definition • Correct Usage
