  5. What is Mythology? • Myths are a body of traditional and sacred stories to explain a belief or natural happening • Myths attempt to Explain such ideas as • Nature…… Where did earth come from? • Man ….. Where did man come from? • Gods….. How many? Role of gods?

  9. Ajax • The name of the legendary son of Telamon king of Salamis. There is no J in Greek - his name was Aias. He has come from earlier Mycenaean warrior traditions, and was absorbed into the Greeks in the Iliad even though he came from an earlier century.

  10. Midas • In Greek mythology, Midas was the king of Pessinus. He was the adopted son of Gordias and Cybele and is popularly remembered for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold

  11. Epic Tale • A long story that celebrates the adventures and achievements of one or more heroic figures of legend, history or religion.
