  6. Domestic abuse & Mental Health

  7. National • Mental health was a factor in 25 of the 33 intimate partner homicides • 7 of the homicides related to familial and mental health was a primary factor in all 7 Local • 4 homicides (2 IPV and 2 Family) • Mental health a factor in both family incidents Findings from DHR’s

  8. Depression • Psychosis • Self harm • Suicidal thoughts/attempts • Low mood/anxiety Mental Health issues

Clearly display information in waiting areas about support available • Established referral pathways between MH and DA • Frontline staff can identify DA and feel confidant raising the issue • Mental health interventions are provided by professionals trained in addressed domestic abuse • On-going assessment of risk of harm to themselves but also to others • Collaborative safety planning Good Practice
