“Zdravei” from Year 3 and 4 Our class has two year groups who are 7 – 9 years old. Our teachers is called Mrs Finlay and we have two Teaching Assistants who help us. We have been learning about your country and hope you enjoy reading what we have found out.

Food Bulgarian traditional foods have been influenced by the Bulgarian way of life and it’s surrounding regions including Turkey. Pork is the most common meat eaten and many main dishes are stews and one pot meals. Tarator- a cold soup. It is made of yogurtand cucumber. Sometimes dill, walnuts, sunflower oil and garlic are added. Lukanka – cold cut/salami. It is made of pork, beef and spices minced together to make a sausage. Sirene – cheese. It is made from white brine. Banista– pastry. It is made by layering whisked eggs and thin pastry. Mekita – cake. It is fried dough similar to a doughnut. Boza – drink. It is made of wheat and is thick and sweet and usually served with Banista.
Climate • Winters - cold and snowy. Sofia gets about a metre of snow which can last for a couple of months. Temperature can get as low as -15c. • Summer –it can get very hot and thunder storms happen a lot in the summer.
