Cayuse and the eRA Solution OVPR has been researching electronic research administration (eRA) solutions for 2 years. • We seek an eRA system to make things easier for the PI: • Proposal submission and award management. • Compliance protocol submission and approval. Acquisition has been delayed due to resource constraints and significant changes in state purchasing regulations. Implementation is expected in late 2011. While this process continues, OVPR has purchased Cayuse for temporary campus-wide use. Office for Sponsored Programs
Cayuse and the eRA Solution • What does Cayuse do? • Electronic S2S submission to grants.gov servers for 94.1% of all federal opportunities. • Auto fills many proposal form fields from stored PI and institutional data. • Web-based: • You can work on it from anywhere • Don’t have to worry about Adobe Reader compatibility • Version control • Real-time validations against grants.gov, federal agencies, and RFP rules. • Re-use a proposal or transfer it to another sponsor's opportunity. • Much faster with a much lower error rate than going through grants.gov directly.
Cayuse and the eRA Solution How is Cayuse being utilized at UGA? As of August 3rd, 2009, proposals responding to supported federal opportunities must come through Cayuse. Usernames and passwords were sent out over the summer. If you need one, or know of someone who does, have them contact me: gcrachel@uga.edu 24 training sessions were held between July and the end of September. More will be scheduled. See www.ovpr.uga.edu/osp/cayuse/ for details. Over 175 federal proposal have been submitted via Cayuse since July 15th. Response by faculty and staff has been overwhelmingly positive. Our future eRA implementation will build on this success and streamline many other administrative areas related to extramural funding. 4
