Internal Male Organs • Vas deferens • Tube that carries sperm • Seminal Vesicle • Gland that secretes sugary solution that mixes with sperm to aid in mobility • Prostate Gland • Gland that secretes an alkaline solution to sperm to decrease the acidity of the vagina • Cowper’s Glands • 2 pea-sized glands that open into urethra • Secrete a lubricating fluid • Urethra • Tube that carries urine or semen
3 Glands that Make Semen • Seminal Vesicles- secretes sugary solution to aid in mobility of sperm • Prostate Gland- secretes alkaline solution to decrease acidity of the uterus • Cowper’s Gland (bulbo-urethral glands)- secretes lubricating fluid
2 TUBES • Urethra- brings urine or semen out of the body through the penis • Vasdeferens- tube that carries sperm from the testes

Cancers of the male • Testicular Cancer • 1% of all cancers in men • Most common in ages 15-34 • 12% of all cancer deaths • Signs: • Slight enlargement in teste • Lump (small, hard) • Dull ache and heaviness
Cancers (cont.) • Prostate Cancer • Most common cancer in men after lung cancer • Common in men 50 and older • Signs: • Difficult/frequent urination • Blood in urine • Lingering pain in back, hips, or pelvis
Cancer • Early detection is best way to prevent or treat cancer • Surgery may be necessary
