  1. Social Studies Report By: Tanner, Marc, Isaac, Cody

  2. People In The City • This is where they bought food. • These people usually had more money. • 1 out of 20 people lived in the city. • They all had buckets to put out fires incase one broke out. • They used torches made of pine and burned brightly when they were wedged between hearthstone.

  3. Homes were small and close together, plus windows were small because glass was expensive. • The city smelled bad and when a fire broke out almost everyone in town had a formation and brought buckets of water to put it out. • There was a water fountain right in the middle of the city. • This is were they got food and gossiped. Downtown/Marketplace

  4. Rights Of The Colonists • The American colonists saw themselves as English citizens. • The Magna Carta allowed people to participate in the government after a long struggle. • Magna Carta means “Great Charter”. • The most important of these was the right to have a voice in the government. • King John also agreed to sign the Magna Carta.

  5. The English Bill Of Rights • This act said that the power to make laws and impose taxes belong to the people of the elected representatives in Parliament and to nobody else. • In 1869 Parliament offered the crown to Prince William of Orange and his wife Mary in exchange they had to agree to and act or law known as the English Bill Of Rights.

  6. Parliament • People appointed to participate in parts of the government. • Overtime it became a lawmaking body with the power to approve laws and taxes proposed by the king or queen. • King James was the duke of York and he did not want to share power with any elected assembly nor did he want to share power with any elected parliament in England. Then he was forced off his thrown without any bloodshed, this is called The Glorious Revolution.

  7. When was this all taking place? 1 out of how many people lived in the city? Why were windows small? Why did the government allow anyone to participate in the government? What did the American Colonists see themselves as? True or false? The city smelled great. What was in the middle of the city? What did they use for light? What was the name of the stone? What did they have by their doors? Where You Paying Attention???

  8. Answers This all took place in the 1750’s. 1 out of 20 people lived in the city. Windows were small because glass was expensive. They did this because of a recent long struggle. They saw themselves as English citizens. False. The big water fountain. Torches. Hearthstone. Buckets of water incase a fire broke out.
