Ideas • Recruits a younger generation of architects. • Defines architecture as the “dress” for individuals of urban life. This theme evolves around the public and private life of an individual. • Current projects based on the works of the post modern periods. • Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects seeks to captivate the philosophy of borderless beings.
Sendai Mediatheque • Built in 2001 • Structured by tubes and plates. • Each floor designed by a different designer. • Multi-purpose building includes: Library Cafe Gallery Cinema Exhibition space
Tower of Winds • In the 60’s it was a concrete water tower • Stewart Brand Low road & high road building • Using acrylic mirrors around the tower, lights inserted between surface and aluminum panels. • Computer control to man-made and natural forces: noises, wind, and seasons. • In 1987 earned the Edwin Guth Memorial Award of Excellence from America's Illumination Engineering Society day night ‘86
