  3. Rules for + and – decimals: • Must line up decimals! • Write zeros in blank decimal spots to make numbers the same length. • When subtracting, you may have to borrow! • Don’t forget to put the decimal in your answer!

  7. Notes Continued… Word Problems: • Cienna and Sierra want to play Uno. The game is $6.00. Cienna has $3.42 in her purse. Sierra has $2.29. Do the girls have enough money to buy the game? If not, how much more do they need?

  8. Daily Dose: You can put it on the same paper as yesterday’s daily dose. Just separate with a line. Still write the date for today’s. • You own a lumber company. A carpenter needs a specific length of wood in inches. He asks for “fifty three thousand, twenty four and sixteen thousandths” inches. Write this as the number. (Careful!) • Add: 114.3 + 5.9 • Subtract: 5.8 – 1.003 • Multiply: 459 x 21

  9. NOTES:copy all this! . . . . . Multiplying Numbers with Decimals! * My goal is… to successfully multiply numbers that have decimals. Rules for x with decimals: • As usual, put the number with more digits on top. • Multiply like normal, and ignore the decimal points. • Count the total number of decimal places from the problem. That’s how many decimal places are in the answer!
