  2. Purpose • To examine more fully one step of the hero’s journey • To recognize the hero’s journey in non-print text

  3. Activate Prior Knowledge • Look again at the step “Refusal of the Call” within the departure stage of the hero’s journey. • With the people in your group, summarize the step and its importance in the journey.

  4. Film Clip On your paper, copy down the following information leaving plenty of room for notes. • Title of Film • Summary of Scene • Connection to the “Refusal of the Call”

  5. Film Clip Discussion • Outcome if the call is never accepted • What might the result have been if the true calling is never accepted? • Brainstorm other examples from movies or literature where characters refused the call.
