ELDERLY Acts 2:16-18 No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel: ‘In the last days it will be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,and your young men shall see visions,and your old men shall dream dreams. Pray for: • Thank God for the faithful serving given to our community by the elderly • Pray for any who may feel lonely and cut off and agencies who support • Pray that God will give the elderly the gift of dreaming dreams to build His Kingdom • Pray for those in care homes in our community and their carers
KINDNESS Galatians 5:22-23 The Fruit of the Spirit By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. Pray For: • Pray that our communities will be filled with and known for kindness and compassion • Pray for ourselves that kindness starts with us in our homes, at work and with our neighbours • Pray that God will guide us through his Holy Spirit into acts of kindness in our communities • Pray for our families that the fruit of the Spirit may grow in ouir homes and spread to our neighbours
Ordinary Life 1 Corinthians 10: 31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Pray For: • Space in our busy lives to pray • Pray that God will lead us through His Holy Spirit to people in our community who we can get alongside – even just with a smile • For those at work, whose ordinary lives following the call to be Christians in the workplace • For those who struggle with over busy lives • For people whose ordinary lives are lonely • For our children in schools and our teachers
Pregnant mums and babies Psalm 139: 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Pray For: • For families eagerly awaiting the birth of a child • For couples unable to have children or those struggling to conceive • For midwives, health visitors and all who support new parents • For babies born prematurely • For wisdom for parents bringing up children in a challenging age • For families bring their babies / children to baptism • For the families of children who have been baptised in our churches • For all Godparents seeking to live lives supporting children on their ‘journey of faith’
REVIVAL Psalm 85: 6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Pray For: • The Holy Spirit to move in people’s hearts • Revival starts with us as individuals and His church • For our own roads and communities that God’s Holy Spirit will be at work bringing healing • That we will give glory to God for all that He is already doing in our communities and lives • That Ashford would become a safe place to live, free from drugs • Christians in the workplace, Christians outside the school gates, Christians at the heart of loving families, Christians as volunteers
UNITY Ephesians 4: 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace Pray for: • Unity in our churches and between Christians • Unity in families where there is division • For family relationships • For our country and Parliament (Brexit!) • For unity in diversity • For Ashford Town Parish as it seeks the way forward – God’s guidance
Zero Prejudice Galatians 3: 28 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Pray for: • Healing of racial tensions • For the elimination of all types of prejudice • For love across all races, religions and genders • For greater understanding of other cultures • For those in our community who have been refugees through no fault of their own • For those seeking to serve God with challenging callings
