  3. Anticipatory set It includes plants, trees, animals, fish, birds, microrganisms, water, soil, and people. When an ecosystem is healthy, scientists say it is sustainable. This means that all the elements live in balance and are capable of reproducing themselves. There is usually biodiversity, meaning that there are a variety of living organisms and species in that environment. What are the elements of a marine ecosystem?

  4. Project Description • Background: • This lesson continues your class work on Ecology. In prior lessons, you studied how ecosystems worked, how a food web was determined, and how human influences alters an ecosystem and the food web. • Overview of the project: • Description • Expectations • Examples • Timeline • Grading

Expectations (project): • You will learn how to use PowerPoint to make an Animated Presentation • You will work in groups of four to complete the work • Everyone will participate – your final grade counts on this • Your work will be turned in on time  two drafts and a final presentation • Expectations (presentation): • You group will choose an ecosystem to work with • You will choose one aspect of an ecosytem to model in the presentation • You will use what you have learned in class to complete the presentation • You presentation will include moving objects, sound, and explanations • You will be graded on accuracy, spelling and grammar, and originality

  6. Make an animated version of how an ecosystem works • Choose a type of ecosystem Tropical Rain Forest Savannas Desert Temperate Grasslands Temperate/Deciduous forest Coniferous forest Tundra Ocean/Marine

  7. Working with PowerPoint: Drawing shapes: In the Home tab, go to the Drawing box, select a shape that fits the one you want to use. For instance, to draw a circle, choose the oval: From this: To this: Right Click on the object to change size and shape or format the color.

  8. Other shapes may be used as well. Square Arrow Free Form Scribble Each of these can be modified.

  9. Sometimes there is an image that you want to use. Go to the Insert tab and Illustrations box to choose Shapes, SmartArt, ClipArt, a picture from a file or others. Shapes ClipArt SmartArt

  10. After you select your text and images, you will want to include animation. • Animation will give movement and character to your presentation. A horse can be made to gallop along a designated path.

  11. You need to use your imagination to create a presentation with animation that will show ecological processes of a natural system.
