  1. The evolution of cameRas By: KhaylaDoublin , EvangelinaPalmerin and Vanessa Kouakou

  2. Before The First Camera • The camera obscura was invented somewhere between the 13th and 14thcenturies by Alhazen( IbnAl-Haytham), • It was basically a box • with a hole in one side.

  3. The very first camera and photograph • The first camera was invented in 1825 by Joseph Niepce. The camera needed 8 hours of exposure time. • The first photograph was also taken in 1825 by Niepce.

  4. The birth of modern photography • In 1839, Louis Daguerre invented the first camera that needed less that 30 minutes of exposure time and didn’t make the photo disappear. Daguerre's process put the images onto silver-plated copper. He polished the silver and coated it in iodine so that the metal would be sensitive to light. Then, he put the plate in a camera and exposed it for a few minutes. After the image was painted by light, Daguerre bathed the plate in a solution of silver chloride. This process created a lasting image, one that would not change if exposed to light.

  5. The First Colored Photos • Before color cameras people used a three-color process. They would take three different pictures of the same subject, one through a different filter every time. (red, blue and green) • The first color photo was taken by Thomas Sutton in 1861.The picture was a colored ribbon. • In the early 1940s, commercially viable color films were brought to the market.

  6. The KODAK camera • The first kodak camera was invented in 1889. They were popular because they were so inexpensive. • By 1975 they invented the first digital camera. • As late as 1976, Kodak commanded 90% of film sales and 85% of camera sales in the U.S.

  7. Instant/Polaroid camera • The first instant camera was created in 1948 by Edwin Land. • The most popular types instant cameras were by Polaroid Corporation which is why the instant camera in commonly referred to as the polaroid. • They were so popular because many people have enjoyed seeing their photos shortly after taking them, allowing them to retake the photo if they didn't get it right.

  8. Cameras Today • Cameras have evolved so much since the beginning. • Pictures come out clearer than ever before. • Cameras not only take pictures but record videos. • Phones such as Androids and the iPhone have high definition cameras. • You can edit your photos to make them look anyway you want them to. • And the best part is….they keep getting better.

  9. QUESTIONS=) • Who took the first color photo? What was it of? • The first color photo was taken by Thomas Sutton. The picture was of a colored ribbon. • When was the first kodak camera invented? • The first kodak camera was invented in 1889.
