Suggested Scope Define performance metrics and best measurement practices at the 802.11 PHY and/or MAC layers in defined conditions that include both controlled test conditions and uncontrolled test conditions that a typical user may experience • 802.11 defines to this level no more • The term ‘performance’ may be debatable but (I feel) should be confined to the efficiency and accuracy of delivering and receiving MSDUs (because that’s what the protocol does) • Metrics defined at the PHY and MAC layers separately are included and it will be the goal of the task group to sort out which ones are most relevant to ‘performance’ Mike Wilhoyte, Texas Instruments.

Purpose • To define metrics relevant to performance at the 802.11 MAC and/or PHY layers • May be statistical • To define the variety test conditions in which these performance metrics will be measured • To suggest best practice to measure or compute the performance metrics Mike Wilhoyte, Texas Instruments.
