Speed • Speed- the distance traveled divided by the time during which the motion occurred. • Constant Speed-movement at a fixed distance per unit of time. • The same amount of distance is covered by the object in the same amount of time at each measurement of that same interval. • Instantaneous Speed-is the velocity of an object at a certain time. • For example:- Suppose you are driving in a car with your father see the speedometer, its speed constantly varies, Because speedometer give speed at a particular moment of time.
Speed • How to calculate it • Distance • Time • Time
Variables Expressed by • Distance can be expressed in • km (kilometers), mi (miles), m (meters), ft (feet). • Time can be expressed in • Hours, minutes, seconds, days. • Speed can be expressed in • m/s (meters per second), c/s (centimeters per second), km/ hr/ sec (Kilometers per hour over seconds).
Acceleration • Acceleration- the rate at which velocity changes over time. • An object accelerates if it changes speed or direction.
Acceleration Formula • Acceleration = Final speed- Starting speed Time it takes to change speed
