Chapter 7 • Overall Theme: All the boys on the island are changing and how they are morphing into one being, and they realize they want to go home, no one seems to be responsible for what is happening and fear is spreading • “He would like to have a bath a proper wallow with soap” (pg. 109) • “All at once Robert was screaming and struggling with the strength of the frenzy” (pg.114) • “Ralph too was fighting to get near, to get a handful of that brown vulnerable flesh” (pg. 114) • “Why don’t you go? Chapter 8 • Overall Theme: The beast conforms to be inside the boys • “The beast comes out of the sea-” “Out of the dark-” (pg. 125) • “What are you doing out here alone aren't you afraid of me? Chapter 9 • Overall Theme: The society has changed completely, less freedom for all the boys, Simon dies and the truth dies with him. that • “A thing was crawling out of the forest. It came darkly uncertainly” (pg.152) • “The beast was on its knees in the center, its arms folded over its face” (pg. 152) • “At once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock, leapt onto the Beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore.
