  3. Jesus Wept B. He was acquainted with grief. Is. 53:3 • Shows deep emotions! • Hebrews 2:16-18 • Hebrews 4:14-15 • He was not ashamed to be human.

  4. Jesus Wept • He identified with others. • In order to be an example we must identify with others. Moses in Exodus 2:14 compared with Hebrews 11:25

  5. Jesus Wept • He loves us. John 11:36 • Do I have a love for the lost that would move me in this way? • Do I weep for fellow believers who suffer?

  6. Jesus Wept • What does it tell us about the Father? • He is a compassionate God. • Novel idea for the Greek view of God • Apatheia - above emotions • God knows and indentifies with our suffering

  7. Jesus Wept • The Father sees our tears. • God notices our tears! 2 Kings 20:3 Job 34:28 Psalm 6:8 • God is touched by our tears! Job 34:28 Psalm 9:12 Psalm 34:15 • God remembers our tears! Psalm 56:8

  8. Jesus Wept • The Father wipes our tears away. • God acts to remove our tears! Psalm 116:8 Psalm 126:5 Psalm 25:8 (ref. 2x in Revelation 7:14-17 & 21:2-4)

  9. Jesus Wept • What does this tell us about us? • We are God’s precious treasure. • We are created in God’s image. Genesis 1:26,27 James 3:9,10 • That image has been shattered by sin. Romans 1:21-25

  10. Jesus Wept Is my compassion like God’s? Do I weep for others and their condition? Am I motivated to an action that provides Hope? 1 Thessalonians 4:13
