Scenario 1: Course Registration • Marie is waiting for early registration for Fall-09 semester. • Upon her request on March 15 her Advisor calls her to let her know that the registration is now open. • She immediately rushes into I-Campus for course registration. • Tasks/Use Cases • Go to www.ilstu.edu • Find I-Campus portal • Logon to I-Campus portal • Navigate to course registration • Register for courses specified • Logout of I-Campus • Close window

  6. Initial design1: Course Registration • Course registration will be broken down into two pages. • The first page will contain three text boxes: term selection, department, course. The course text box will be populated based on the selection of the other two text boxes. • After course selection the user will be directed to the next page for section selection. • After the section selection the user can hit “register” and go back to select more courses or view course textbooks.

Initial design 2: Course Registration • The course registration process will be broken down into two pages. • The user will select term and department and then hit the “show courses” button to view all available courses in the next page. • This page will contain all the courses and along with it a “show section” button to view a pop-up window showing all the sections available. • The user can select a course with its section and return back for more selections or proceed to view information and textbooks.

Scenario 2.1: Welcome 2 ISU • After discussing with her family Tricia is reapplying in ISU for Spring 2010 to complete her Nursing degree. • She had a talk with an advisor and collected information about returning student. • Tricia came to know that Welcome 2 ISU is the fastest way she can apply. • Now she has decided to apply through Welcome 2 ISU as it is an online process which is fast and can be managed in her busy schedule.

Scenario 2.2: Welcome 2 ISU • Wilbur has decided to apply in ISU for Spring 2010 and came to know about Welcome 2 ISU from his girlfriend. • His girlfriend told him that the online application process is fast, easy to use and manageable. • He also know that as he is applying for the first time, he will be asked to make an account. • He is ready for applying in ISU and want to finish it fast.

  11. Scenario 2: Tasks • Tasks/Use cases • Open Welcome 2 ISU. • Create an account for Login. • Select the type of online application. • Fill out all the forms. • Submit online application.

Initial design: Welcome 2 ISU • On ISU homepage there will be an “Apply” link, mouse hover on which will show the options of undergraduate and graduate application. • User click on any of these will direct it to another page which will contain application instructions and options for “Domestic” or “International application”. The domestic link will have the options for “New application” & “Returning Student”. “International application” will have separate instructions and application. • On clicking the “Domestic” link the user will be directed to another page which contains instruction and “Apply Now” link. • Once the “Apply” link is hit, the user will be directed to the next page asking for “login information” or “account creation”.

  15. …Continued • After login or account creation the user can start filling the admission applications. • After every page the user will have a choice to either “save and exit application” or “save and continue” along with options to go to previous or next screens. • On continue the user will see forms asking for “personal information”, “applying for”, “academic/work background” and “payment” in the stated sequence. • On “save and exit” the user will see a partial summary of the application status.
