Demographics • McLennan County population- 230,000 • Percentage of population under age 5- 7.5% • Number of children under age 5 – 17,250 • Est. # of children not vaccinated - 8500
Call to Action Raise the immunization rate for preschool age children by 10% each year for the next 4 years. Achieve 95% target immunization coverage rate for McLennan County

Parental Awareness Pilot • Suggestions were made to conduct parent educational presentations at the • following types of locations: • Daycares • Family Practice Networks • Hospitals • Free Clinics • Medicaid Sites
Daycare Pilot Program Daycare Pilot Strategy a. target two daycares and two EOAC Head Start facilities with the lowest Immunization rates. b. Recruit daycares by “selling” them on the benefit of the pilot. c. Use the “Help Card”, how the pilot will offer improvement of the facilities immunization rates, immunization record assessment training for daycare staff and lower the risk of penalties by Texas Childcare Licensing. d. Utilize Baylor students to help with immunization record assessment and staff training. e. A control study will be conducted with the facilities in which onsite vaccinations will occur at one location and immunization referrals will be made at the other facility. The purpose of the study will determine to what degree onsite vaccinations will directly impact Immunization rates.
