  1. Stability Balls in use in 2nd Grade

  2. We can move them around better than chairs. Don’t like it when we lose it for 1 week. Comfy/Comfortable Phrases students use to describe the stability balls. Fun to sit on during class. They are cool. We can baby bounce and roll in them. They are soft and help my spine go straight. Squishy not like chairs.

  3. In both pictures the children are working while sitting on their stability balls. Top Picture: A student working while standing, very common before stability ball introduced. (Actually lost his for inappropriate sitting on stability ball) Right Picture: As you see a student sitting in a regular chair with feet off floor and poor posture. Very common with a several students prior to stability balls.

  4. Hard to see in the pictures, but the children are moving forwards and backwards on their stability ball while working. When the student gets off their stability ball to hand something in they make sure the ‘feet’ of the ball are on the floor so that they do not start rolling around the room.

  5. Students are allowed to move their stability ball around the room when reading, working with partners, etc.. You can see that the students legs are not at a90` angle, slightly bent to help with the posture.

  6. For storage we can stack the stability balls under the desk on their ‘feet’ or we can stack them on top of our desk with their ‘feet’. Most often we stack them on our desk to help with the cleaning of the room. As you can see the floor is cleaned of markers, pens, pencils, etc.. that could cause harm to the stability balls.
