SAMARISCreep test Meeting at TRL 2-3 March 2005
Time schedule • Sample reception • LAVOC cores December 2004 • DRI slabs February 2005 • Test program • Sample preparation (coring and cutting) February 05 • Density measurement • Creep test • At 50°C February-March 05 • At additional T°C to be discussed • Binder information ?
Creep test conditions (1/2) • European standard PrEN 12696-25 • Method A: uniaxial cyclic compression test with confinement • Method B: triaxial cyclic compression test • British Standard BS 598-111 • Unconfined uniaxial loading test • Internal Shell protocol • Performed on the NAT • Sample size 100 mm Diam 60 mm Height • Normal stress 100kN • Temperature 50°C • Pulse time 0.2s loading + 1.8s rest
Sample preparation • From LAVOC material Done • 2x9 cores 90mm diam (not 100mm) • Layer sawing in order to have • Surface layer 2x30mm thick • Base layer 60mm thick • From DRI material Under progress • 2 slabs • Coring • Layer sawing as for LAVOC
Preliminary measurements (1/3) • Density measurement (for the time being for LAVOC only) • Require information on mix characteristics (density, composition, …) • Slight difference between base and surface layers • Scattering of results (higher for surface than base) Impact of test results
First creep test result for LAVOC • Base layer • Excellent behaviour • Longer test required • Surface layer • Lower behaviour • Breakdown of certain sample
Next step • Creep test on the DRI material at 50°C • Further information on mixture • Coefficient calculation • Binder data (viscosity of fresh binder) ? • To be discussed • Test at another temperature? Other conditions?
