The Outlook • By the year 2018, there will be a decline in journalism occupations • Most journalism will be online, not in print • There will be tough competition for the jobs, and businesses will be looking for people with media skills
Average Job Salary • Starting out in journalism, you will only make $28,000 to $50,000 annually • As you rise up in journalism, you can make $60,000 to $90,000 a year • Working hourly, you can make anywhere from $18 to $40 an hour
Similar Occupations • Some similar occupations include a novelist, a poet, a magazine editor, and book publishers. • Some jobs, such as novelists & poets, usually write to express themselves and their emotions. • Others, such as magazine editors and book publishers, critique other people’s writing, fixing errors and making suggestions.

What to learn • To be a journalist, you need to take courses in editing, feature writing, photojournalism, reporting, and communications • For print or broadcast journalism, you can take extra courses to improve your writing or learn production techniques • Three colleges I am looking into are Stanford University, University of Missouri, and Pepperdine University
Why Journalism? • Writing is my passion and I never want that to change • I feel that I could really express my feelings through my writing
