‘Wherever I Hang’ by Grace Nichols And is so I sending home photos of myselfAmong de pigeons and de snowAnd is so I warding off de coldAnd is so, little by littleI begin to change my calypso waysNever visiting nobodyBefore giving them clear warningAnd waiting me turn in queueNow, after all this timeI get accustom to de English lifeBut I still miss back-home sideTo tell you de truthI don't know really where I belaangYes, divided to de oceanDivided to de boneWherever I hang me knickers - that's my home. I leave me people, me land, me homeFor reasons I not too sureI forsake de sunAnd de humming-bird splendourHad big rats in de floorboardSo I pick up me new-world-selfAnd come to this place call EnglandAt first I feeling like I in a dream -De misty greynessI touching the walls to see if they realThey solid to de seamAnd de people pouring from de underground systemLike beansAnd when I look up to de skyI see Lord Nelson high - too high to lie.
