What does an IB Course look like? • Rigorous, pre-collegiate • Take exams at the end of the course • Every IB student in the world takes the same exam! • Complete the internal assessment requirements • Usually an essay, project, or presentation • Real-world application of material • Higher Level v. Standard Level courses • Higher Level = more requirements and in-depth study
IB Programme Options • FULL DIPLOMA STUDENT • Take 6 IB Subjects • Two years of study in your Junior & Senior years • Mixture of Higher Level/Standard Level courses • Fulfill the 3 core requirements • Extended essay research paper • 150 hours of creativity, action, and service over 2 years • Take Theory of Knowledge • COURSE STUDENT • Enroll in one or more IB classes • Take exams and internal assessments
Which IB Option is Right For You? • Full Diploma • Universities typically offer more credit and more scholarship money to those that receive the full diploma • Individual Courses • Perfect for students who have an interest in a particular subject Regardless of the option, colleges will see that you challenged yourself!
Diploma Programme CurriculumCore Requirement: CAS 150 hours over 2 years • Creativity – Arts, Music, Writing, Robotics, Tutoring, Mentoring • Action – Sports, Exercise Programs, Dance • Service – Any community service activity
Diploma Programme CurriculumCore Requirement: Extended Essay The extended essay: • Offers the opportunity to investigate a research question of individual interest • Familiarizes students with the independent research and writing skills expected at University
