Office of Research Administration Proposal and Award Tracking System Upgrade and Data Model Restructuring Project Kickoff
Project Team • Marcia Smith – Executive Sponsor • Jackson Jeng – ORIS Project Director • Gloria Su – ORIS Project Manager • Philip Infurna – Huron Project Manager • Dan Newbower – ORA Business Analyst • Representatives from OCGA, EFM, IPAS, DRAs, OIP-ISR, CTCU, and RPC
Project Objectives • Improve usability of UCLA’s proposal and award tracking system • Expand data collection • Implement a new data structure to improve reporting capabilities • Cleanup data to address inconsistencies created by changes in functionality over years of use
User Involvement Key to the success of this upgrade, reimplementation, and data conversion is the involvement of users throughout the project life-cycle. We plan to engage the users in areas most relevant to specific business areas: • Direct Involvement in the decision-making process through design meetings focused on business areas including: • Pre-Award and intake processes • Award processing (new and continuations) • Post-Award processes • Report design, review and quality control testing • Real-life example and proof of concept testing • Final user acceptance testing
