Rule Making Activities • 12VAC5-481 X-Ray revisions • NOIRA approved by the Board of Health on April 23, 2010. • Public comment 8/16- 9/15/2010 • 12VAC5-490 RADMAT Fee Schedule • Proposed Fee Schedule revisited. • Upon management approval, staff will initiate rule-making in accordance with Administrative Process Act.

  5. Radioactive Materials Program • Staff turnover- 1 Tech and 1 Admin • New Hire- Asfaw Fenta • NRC’s IMPEP Review- 11/1- 11/5/2010 • 1 Admin position in recruitment

  6. IMPEP Review • Received satisfactory rating in each of 6 performance categories • Recommendation: implement staff training/qualifications manual • Management Review Board meets Jan 12 • Next one, year 2014

  7. X-ray Machine Program • Purchased CT survey equipment • CRCPD request: State survey of CT facilities performing brain perfusion studies • In the news- spiral CT effective for screening lung cancer • NYT- interest in dental cone beam CT and dental film D versus F/Insight • Enforcement action against Private Inspector.

  8. Emergency Preparedness • North Anna Exercise- July 20, 2010 • VHF Radio failure- 2 ARCAs • Replacing VHF system with STARs • Updated State Plan in August • State Fire Fighters Association-Mobile Lab on display • Liquid KI expires April 2011 • Next evaluated exercise: Surry July 19, 2011

  9. Environmental Monitoring • Discussions with VDEM and Dominion to expand the program • Replaced vehicle for this activity • Replaced shelters for air sampling stations • NRC event report 11/1/10- tritium reported in test well at North Anna
