  2. First Things First • Think Safety • Read Label Directions • Wear Protective Clothing -Long Pants -Respirator -Long Sleeves -Eye Protection -Fully Enclosed Shoes -Preferably Chemical -Chemical Resistant Gloves Resistant Coveralls or Apron

  3. Chemical Toxicity • Danger - Highly Toxic • Warning - Moderately Toxic • Caution - Slightly Toxic • (Nothing) - Relatively Non-Toxic

  4. Toxicity • Expressed by LD50. The amount of ingredient per kg body weight that will kill 50% of the test population. • Test population is usually rats.

  5. Farmer Jones wants to apply Roundup around his pecan trees. Roundup is to be applied at the rate of 1.5 lbs a.i. per acre. If the Roundup is sold in a container that is 3.6 lbs. a.i. per gallon, how many pints will he need to apply/acre? conc. per acre(pints)=lbs a.i. desired X 8 lbs. a.i. per gallon of liq. conc.
