The Kedarnath Temple which enshrines the Jyotirlingam of Shiva was built in the 8th century AD by Adi Shankaracharya. In fact this temple lies adjacent to a temple that was built by the Pandavas who are often considered the heroes of the epic Mahabharata. Tourists will be amazed at the many mythological scenes and other deity carvings that feature in the temple.
The temple itself is a fantastic example of early architecture as it was built out of heavy slabs of grey colour stones.
