Why take Algebra in 8th grade? -- to get ahead -- to have a challenge -- my parents make me -- to take Calculus as a senior in high school
What should you expect? -- homework 3 – 4 nights a week -- pacing very quick -- after first couple months, mainly new material -- brief “review” of 8th grade TEKS
What will help your success? --attendance extremely important --when don’t understand, get help immediately !! --communication !!
Grading follows Crossland 40% Major (3 grades) 50% Minor 10% Common Assessment
End-of-Course Algebra Exam --The EOC will count as a major grade for the 6th grading period (in May) --This is part of the new testing system which uses ‘accumulation of points’ for graduation requirements
