The Bardejov Community Foundation • is a non - profit organization, which supports local civic initiatives and non-profit organizations that contribute to improve the quality of life in the city of Bardejov. • Provides small financial grants of up to 700 € as well as technical and advice services. • Since its creation KNBJ has supported 354 projects with total amount of nearly 145 923 €
The current unemployment rate • in the Bardejovdistrict is 21,53 %, and is very similar to the last year’s rate: 21,44 %. • The youth (under 29 years of age) unemployment rate is 37,88% out of total number of unemployment people. The Foundation struggles to help to solve this alarming social situation while it works everyday to meet its mission.
The Bardejov Community Foundation (BCF) takes a part in the„Post-Graduation Internship“ National Project operated by the National Labor Force
During the last 9 years, we gave jobs to 12 young people within this Project,6 of them completed their post - graduation internships at the Foundation as self – employed persons.
How we help them: • Identification of their skills and knowledge by means of individual debates • Step by step, they take on small working tasks • They take a part in education trainings and courses in the field of NGO sector(project design and coordination, communication skills development, workshops, conferences, events, etc.) • Motivating debates • Design of individual career plans for 5 to 10 years
Results: • 3 of the 6 self – employed young people remained to work at the Foundation for over 2 years, and 2 of them for over 1 year • One of them still works with the Foundation • The remaining 5 people still work in all different areas • At least 10 people out of 12 who worked with the Foundation as trainees have a job now
The BCF philosophy: The mission of community foundations is to helptodevelop local communities. No community can develop without active people who have jobs.
...atthe end: I personally welcome the „Active Citizens Combating Youth Unemployment“ Project as the youth unemployment has been a very urgent challenge for all subjects that are directly or indirectly engaged into improvements of the quality of life in urban and rural areas in Europe.
