  2. The Outward Journey 1600 – Meet school 1615 – Depart School 2330 – Arrive port, Dover 0056 – Channel crossing 0230 – Arrive Calais for onward journey. Arrive afternoon on following day of departure. First meal will be dinner. The Return Journey 1900 – Departure after dinner Travel through the night to Calais 1100 – Sat arrive Calais If the journey is quicker there is usually the opportunity of an earlier crossing. 1155 – Arrive Folkestone Onward journey to school 1600 – Estimated time back at school There will be the opportunity to phone an arrival time for those who have arranged collection from school.   3. The Hotel • The Hotel Sport is a 2*+ youth hotel with accommodation for up to 400 people. • It’s located on the edge of the village, 500m from the lift base station. • The staff speak English. • They also speak Italian in this part of Austria.

  4. And inside…. The 2*+ youth hotel is located at the edge of the village and is designed specifically for groups. Rooms for students are for 2-7 people with a combination of twin/bunk beds. All room are en-suite The group will be accommodated in the same part of the hotel. This is a simple but homely and welcoming hotel. The Location... The hotel enjoys a fantastic location at the edge of the village. It is a short walk to the nearest lift which is just 500m away.

  5. The Hotel – other facilities SportsHall In-House disco Aqua Centre in nearby Koetschach Nightskiing The hotel has a mountain hut to which packed lunches are delivered daily. Its also possible to have lunch at the hotel. Toboggan/bumboarding slope

  6. On the subject of food… • It will be different! Continentals will put unusual combinations of food together – just give it a try! • Breakfasts are buffet style. • Hot/packed lunch • Dinner will be 3 course: usually with soup/pasta, main course and dessert. The main course is often meat or fish with a vegetable. Salad bar. • For any vegetarians or special diets, the hotel will always do its best and are used to school groups. Any special diet needs will be sent in advance.

  7. The Skiing… is on both valley sides. Lower slopes provide confidence giving blues and nursery slopes, whilst the upper slopes will challenge most skiers.

  8. The slopes…. There are many and varied slopes in the ski area. The beginner slopes (those pictured are not beginner runs!) are located in a sunny area with dedicated lifts – excellent for good progress!

  9. Elsewhere in the area…. • For more able skiers there is a wide selection of pistes, a mixture of open pistes and tree-lined runs. • There is also the international FIS piste that is 7km long.

  10. Ski School Each morning and afternoon the instructors will meet their groups for fun lessons! There will be 5 hours lessons each day. Times of lessons will be known on arrival according to snow conditions. (Picture is most recent available!!)

  11. Ski Hire • Ski hire takes place at the hotel. • A new facility has been installed to provide good standard equipment – any changes required is not a problem here! • Ski fit conveniently takes place shortly after the group’s arrival

  12. SKI STUFF….. Salopettes Ski Jacket Ski Socks x 3 pairs 2 or 3 t-shirts as base layer 2 or 3 roll neck sweaters 1 or 2 fleece jumpers or sweatshirts. Hat Gloves Sunglasses or goggles Sun screen combi – 40spf Scarf or turtle neck Strong shoes with good grip OTHER STUFF… Casual clothes for off the snow. Casual shoes for around the centre. Nightwear/underwear Wash-bag Towel – required! Hairdryer and continental plug. Spending money Camera – inexpensive or disposable is best. A Suggested Kit List OPTIONAL XTRAS… Small ruck-sack for the journeys – hand luggage. Snack for journey Book. Music DVD’s Passport in hand luggage. EHIC Mobile Phone - emergency Travel Tips… Please pack sensibly in a medium sized holdall –space is tight! Wear your ski jacket & outdoor shoes – these are bulky and heavy! Layers… are the key to being warm on the mountain! You can always adjust them at lunchtime!

The EHIC • This has replaced the old E111. • It is a credit-card sized “document” that enables medical care to be provided in the unfortunate event of an accident. • It’s FREE and can be obtained in the following ways: a) From the post office – allow up to 21 days – either use the Post Office “check and send” service for £2, or post yourself. b) By telephone – allow up to 10 days – Phone NHSBSA EHIC Applications line on 0845 606 2030. b) Online – www.ehic.org.uk. Forms can be downloaded/completed online and your EHIC will arrive within 7 days. • Previously, E111’s covered a whole family – the EHIC is for INDIVDUALS ONLY. • When you have your EHIC, inform your group leader of the number. • Non-EU Nationals can only apply through the Post Office (additional documentation is required). • If you lose your EHIC call 0845 605 0707 from the UK or 0044 191 212 7500 if abroad.

  14. And finally…. • Please make sure that: • Any outstanding payments are made. • Provide the “vital statistics” for your ski preparation • Provide any dietary information • Complete the consent forms as required • Apply for a passport in good time if needed • Apply for the EHIC – give the number to the group leader • Please complete all the above • by 23rd November, 2010.
