Physics 321 Hour 39-40 Final Review
Wednesday 8-10 am(or 11 am) • Be on time! • Classroom • Counts 25% of the total grade! When, Where, etc.
Tests 1 &2 • Review Materials • Concentrate on basic material and new material What to Study
8-10 problems • About ½ are qualitative, ½ are quantitative • Some will probably finish by 8:30 am. What to Expect
Basic force/torque problems + drag, Lorentz • Basic Lagrangian • Lagrange Multiplier • Hamiltonian • Potential Energy • Solids: Inertia tensor, finding principal axes and principal moments • Solids: Euler’s equations, Euler’s angles, constants of motion, precession-spin-nutation Problems I
Coupled Oscillators: Lagrangian in Matrix form, finding normal modes and frequencies • Chaos: No repeated motion, sensitive to initial conditions, harmonics, state space, frequency doubling in onset to chaos • Scattering: cm, solid angle, impact parameter, finding cross sections, definitions Problems II
