Prenatal Development • Prenatal development is the process for a baby-to-be grows inside the mother. The process normally takes about nine months which means a full term. • A full-term pregnancy typically lasts about 40 weeks.
Trimesters • Trimesters are timelines of pregnancy can be divided into three trimesters. Each is a time of remarkable growth for the baby and mother. • First Trimester 1-3 months • Second Trimester 4-6 months • Third Trimester 7-9 months
Miscarriage • A Miscarriage is the loss of pregnancy after less than 20 weeks of fetal development. The zygote, embryo, or fetus dies and is expelled from the mother’s body. These are the risk of miscarriage is increased by factors such as: • Age (women over age 35 are at greater risk). • Previous miscarriage. • Family history of miscarriage.
Ectopic Pregnancy • A Ectopic pregnancy is a fertilized egg that never reaches the uterus. Sometimes implantation occurs in the fallopian tube. • The ectopic pregnancy can be cause by a serious risk to the mother’s health.
Birth Defects • Birth Defect are present before birth and results in mental or physical disability. The types of Birth Defects are: • Poor nutrition • Using tobacco, alcohol, or other drugs. • Sexually transmitted diseases and infections • Rubella
What To Eat • Grain products such as breads, cereals, rice, and pasta. • Dry beans and peas. • Other starchy vegetables, such as potatoes and corn.
