Flight Test Technical Team (FT3)SCI-172 Task Group Mission • To Disseminate Information Through Publication Of AGARDographs On Flight Test Technology Derived From Best Practices Which Support The Development Of Concepts And Systems Critical To Maintaining NATO’s Technological And Operational Superiority • To Enable Advancements In Flight Test Technologies To Be Discussed In Open Forum Within The NATO Community By Identifying And Distributing Flight Test Training Opportunities, And Through Proposing And Facilitating Symposia, Short Course, Lecture Series, Etc • To Serve As The Focal Point For Flight Test SubjectsAnd Issues With The SCI Panel While Ensuring The Vitality And Continuity Of The Network Of Flight Test Experts Within The NATO Community

Flight Test Technical Team (FT3)SCI-172 Task Group • International Team Composed Of Senior Flight Test Managers And Experts • USA Lead Nation • CAN / FRA / ITA / NLD / ROU / ESP/ SWE / TUR / GBR • Open to all NATO and PfP Nations • TORs • Identify the Flight Test needs in NATO • Ensure AG FT series remain up-to-date • Propose New FT Activities • Primarily AGARDographs • Technical Courses or Lecture Series • RTB approved activity: 2005 - 2007

Recommendations To RTB On Flight Test • Keep Flight Test Expertise (FT3) within the SCI Panel • Keep Current Structure until 2007 • Maintain SCI-172 Task Group • Encourage Continuing with Agardographs to Document/Disseminate Flight Test “Best Practices” • Task SCI-172 TG to Examine Future Opportunities • Look at LTCR and DAT Priorities • Engage ACT, MAGs (NAFAG), NIAG • Investigate FT support for NCW/NEC • Investigate integration into ACT’s Experimentation programme • Cooperation with other Panels (like HFM & IST)

  12. Recommendations To RTB On Flight Test (continued) • Task SCI-172 to Evaluate Management Structure for post-2007 • Report to SCI Panel and RTB on recommendations • Final thought: issues of FT are not unique -- similar testing issues in other environments • Need to understand how to best integrate all types of testing into RTO effectively
