ONE BIG PROBLEM! THAT’S NOT LIVING IN REALITY!
Some unrealistic, but popular views of the Christian life: • Prosperity • Healing • Name it, Claim it • Money is my friend • Destiny • Breakthrough
Matthew 14:22-2622 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
Matthew 14:22-2624 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
Matthew 14:22-2626 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
There are still waves, contrary winds, troubled spirits and fear!
There are great highs also… Matthew 14:27-2927 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
There are great highs also… Matthew 14:27-2929 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
But… There are still waves, contrary winds, troubled spirits and fear!
Matthew 14:30-3330 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
Matthew 14:30-3331 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Matthew 14:30-3332 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
Matthew 14:31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Mark 9:24And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Romans 10:17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2 Corinthians 5:6-86 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Hebrews 11:1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
