What Lifts Are Performed? • Clean & Jerk • Consisted of two lifts • completed immediately after other • from the floor-shoulders • From shoulders-overhead • Coordination needed • Snatch • From floor-full arm's length overhead • athletes bend legs quickly • strength blinding speed needed • One explosive motion • Coordination needed
Equipment needed for lifting • Weights • Barbell (bar holding weight) • Rubber coated cylindrical Weight plates • Collar (secures weights in place) • Lifting Clothes and accessories • One piece suit • Specialized lifting shoes • Weight belt for support • Wrist and knee straps
Do Only Men Compete? • Men and women compete • Different weight classes for both genders • Teenagers compete in size age groups • Senior citizens can compete
