Upbringing and childhood • Born in Pretoria, South Africa on June 28, 1971 • Liked reading a lot of books • Always interested in computers and Science-Fiction • He taught himself computer programming at the age of 10. • His father was strict and tough on his brother and Elon, he would emotionally abuse them and lecture them for a few hours • He was bullied a lot at school to the point that he would go to the hospital • His parents got divorced in 1980 and Elon chose to live with his father, which he regrets because his father was a “terrible human being.”
Connection to Canada • He wanted to avoid the mandatory military service in South Africa so he wanted to go to America because this was where “great things happen”. • He moved to Canada through his Canadian born mother, Maye Musk • He knew that it would be easier to go to America through Canada, so he goes against his father and moves to Canada
Education • When he was 17, he moved to Canada and attended Queen’s University in the year 1892 • 1992, he goes to University of Pennsylvania to study business and physics • graduated with a Economics undergraduate degree • Stayed for a bachelor’s second degree in Physics • He went to Stanford university in California to do PhD degree in energy physics • He dropped out the second day, because this time coincided with the internet, he went on to launch his first company Zip 2 Queen’s University University of Pennsylvania Stanford University

Adversities faced by elon musk • 1995: Unsuccessfully applied for a job at Netscape. • 1996: Ousted as CEO of his own company, ZIP2. • 1999: First PayPal product voted one of the worst business ideas And Crashed his brand-new McLaren F1, worth a million dollars. • 2000: Ousted from PayPal during his honeymoon. • 2001: Russians refused to sell him rockets to send mice or plants to Mars. • 2002: Russians turned him down again in founding of SpaceX. • 2006: First SpaceX rocket launch -- and his first explosion. • 2007: Second rocket launch and second explosion. • 2008: Third rocket launch and third failure; this time with NASA satellites onboardand Tesla and SpaceX on the brink of bankruptcy. • 2013: First rocket failure. • 2014: Tesla Model S had more than one case of spontaneous battery explosion. • 2015: Fourth rocket explosion at launch. • 2016: Tesla Model X production delayed by 18 months and Fifth rocket explosion.
Coping with adversities • Through all the challenges he faced, he knew that he was going to make it happen and did whatever he could. He dedicated his life and work around his passion. • He did his research and read books upon books just to resolve the matters in his businesses. He communicated with his people and overall he did to his part in gaining as much information as he could. • Moreover, he worked with experienced people that could help him. He made alliances and contracts with companies and flew over to make this. • In the end, his devotion to his work lead him to overcome the many challenges that he has faced.

Open Ai • Founded: December 11 2015 • Mission: “Open AI’s mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.” • They have a few products: Gym, RoboSumo, Debate Game, OpenAI Five, Dactyl, GPT2. • They create these gadgets to help us in our daily lives and they all have a purpose of benefiting our lives and making them easier. • Competitors: Doc.ai, IEST, FreeBSD, Linx • In the future, it will be very successful because our lives depend on technology and this field will be more known as well. • Yes I would because it would be cool to see how they create these gadgets and how they come up with these ideas.
The boring company • Founded: December 17, 2016 • Stakehold • Mission: To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels and that is something that this company is here for. • Products: Loop Transportation System, Conduit Tunnel, Water Tunnel • Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFHnOK8eIts • This company helps society because it creating a new way of transportation-underground tunnels. This will help with traffic control and moreover a really easy way to transport from one place to another. • Estimated 2000 employees • Competitors: SpaceX, Hyperloop One, Terrafugia, Big R Bridge • I think it will be successful in the future because since overpopulation is a big issue and roads are becoming more congested, these creations will help with traffic control • I would like to work here because I am interested with what materials they use for the tunnels and how they dig underground.
